General information The hours we work We currently take appointments: Monday 9 am - evening (usually 7pm) Tuesday 9 am - evening Wednesday closed for paperwork Thursday 9 am - evening Friday 9 am - 5 pm Occasionally, we may be out briefly during these hours. If you phone the clinic number, it will divert you through to Rachael's mobile phone. If you need to speak with us after hours, call the clinic number, and it will divert to Rachael's mobile. Occasionally, the mobile may be switched off (eg. if Rachael is at a meeting or appointment). If you leave a message, she will phone back shortly. You can ring anytime if you need urgent help. Appointment changes When we make an appointment for you, we usually put aside between 30 and 60 minutes to spend with you. If you cancel at the last minute, it makes it very difficult for us to replace your appointment. We really appreciate it when you can keep to the appointments you have arranged. Of course, if you are sick we understand. In fact if you have a contagious sickness like the 'flu we prefer you to reschedule for when you are better. If we get your sickness, there is nobody to replace us at the clinic. Are we there yet? Nobody likes to be kept waiting, so your time is very important to us. We will do our absolute best to run to time, and we will apologise if we keep you waiting. Usually we keep to time quite well. If you wish to do things in fewer visits than is usual, please ask how this can be arranged. We are happy to allocate longer appointments with you so we can get more done on one day. How do our fees compare? For many things, our fees are slightly higher than those at an average podiatrist. However, we do not just give you average service! For more expensive items such as orthotics or nail surgery, we are similar in price to similarly qualified podiatrists, even though we always use the very latest technology with these items. Payments You can pay using cash, cheque or credit card (BankCard, MasterCard or Visa). We hope to have EFTPOS soon. We are waiting for the combined EFTPOS and Healthpoint machines to be available to Podiatrists - these process your health fund rebate directly to us, so you only need to pay the gap. We like you to pay when you receive your bill. If you'd like to know the expected fee, we can tell you in advance, once we know what treatment you require. Health funds If you keep your receipt, you can claim with your fund if you have 'extras' cover. We usually expect you to claim with your fund after you have settled your account with us. If you wish to do things in fewer visits than is usual, you may not be able to claim as much on longer appointments or multiple items. However, if you are in a hurry, this may not concern you. Different funds have different rules. The amount you get back varies enormously. If you would like to check what you get back before treatment, we are happy to give you a list of fee item codes and costs for you to check the gap with your fund. We will help you as much as possible to make your health fund claim. Other things... Many patients are worried that their feet may smell less than rosy when they come to see us. We certainly appreciate your concern. If you have showered not long before coming, it is never a problem. If you are coming straight from work, school or sport, we can provide you with refresher towels to use to wipe down your feet. We are happy for you to ask for them when you are brought through for your appointment. Also, if you need a taxi, we are happy to call one for you. We also have bus and train timetables. The 335 ExpressBus, and 346 & 353 Citybuses pass us, and the closest train station is at Wilston, approximately 500 metres away. Our Commitment to you We will...
